What is an BBQ Meat Thermometer?

The primary value of a barbecue thermometer is accuracy. When we put a piece of tender beef or lamb on the grill, we often make mistakes when judging whether the meat is cooked based on experience and feeling. Either it is not cooked enough, with blood streaks inside, which poses a health hazard; or it is overcooked, and the meat becomes dry and hard, losing its taste. A barbecue thermometer can accurately tell us the internal temperature of the meat, allowing us to stop grilling at the best time, ensuring that every bite of meat is tender and juicy.

Types of Meat Thermometer

GFT138 : GFT138 is a high-precision foldable electronic digital thermometer. Using international imported chips, the product has a compact structure and high temperature measurement accuracy. The probe can be rotated and folded 180°, which is convenient for temperature measurement. It has temperature locking and LCD backlight functions, which can be easily read even in dark environments.

GFT122: GFT122 is a high-precision pen-type electronic digital thermometer. The product has a compact structure and high temperature measurement accuracy. The probe is protected by a pen cover, which is easy to carry and ensures that the probe is always clean and hygienic. Widely used in temperature measurement of food, barbecue, beverage, milk, meat, candy, etc.

CXL001: CXL001 series intelligent wireless thermometers are connected to mobile phones or tablets via Bluetooth, and the intelligent APP monitors temperature changes in real time. Single probe and dual probe are available, and up to 6 probe temperatures can be monitored simultaneously. With a dedicated charging stand, it charges quickly, has a long battery life, and has a long transmission distance.

GWT155: GWT155 is a high-precision multi-probe smart thermometer.  It can connect up to 4 temperature probes at one time.  It can be connected to a mobile phone or tablet via Bluetooth, and the temperature change can be monitored in real time through the APP. Battery powered, easy to use in any occasion.

Temperature Reference Guide

Different foods have different reference temperature values for baking. The following are the reference temperatures for baking common foods:
Chicken: The internal temperature should generally reach 165°F (74°C), but it can also be fine-tuned according to the size of the chicken, the roasting method, and personal preference for the taste of the chicken. For example, roasted chicken legs may be cooked and taste good when close to 165°F; but for a whole larger chicken, it may be necessary to strictly ensure that the thickest part reaches this temperature, or even slightly higher, to ensure that the chicken is fully cooked and eliminate food safety risks.

Steak: Depending on your taste, the grilling temperature range is generally between 130°F (54°C) and 160°F (71°C). If you like tender, medium-rare steaks, grill them to around 130°F; if you prefer medium-rare, grill them to around 160°F. When grilling thick steaks at low temperatures, you can use a thermometer to monitor the temperature in the center to achieve the desired doneness.

Pork: The internal temperature usually needs to reach 145°F (63°C). This is the basic reference temperature for grilled pork chops and pork belly. However, if the pork is cut thicker, you may need to extend the baking time to ensure that the internal temperature reaches the standard. At the same time, you can also grill the surface a little more charred to improve the taste according to your personal preference.

Fish: The internal temperature should reach 145°F (63°C), but different types and sizes of fish can be adjusted flexibly during the actual grilling. For example, the smaller saury is relatively easy to cook, and the fish meat will be more tender when it reaches this temperature; for larger sea bass, you need to pay more attention to the thermometer reading to ensure that the inside is cooked through.

Meat Thermometer Cleaning and Storing

Use a mild detergent and a damp cloth to wipe the surface of the thermometer, which can effectively remove dirt. During the wiping process, the action should be as gentle as possible. It should be noted that water or other liquids should be avoided from directly contacting the display screen of the thermometer to prevent oxidation or damage to the display screen. For the measuring rod or sensor part of the thermometer, it can be cleaned with pure alcohol or professional detergent, and then wiped dry with a dry paper towel. Be careful to avoid using too wet cloth or paper towel to wipe this place. It is especially important to remind that the entire thermometer must not be immersed in water, because many barbecue thermometers contain electronic components. Once immersed in water, it is easy to cause damage to the components, thereby affecting the normal use and life of the thermometer.

The correct storage method can extend the service life of the barbecue thermometer. First, place the thermometer in a dry place. A humid environment may cause the internal parts of the thermometer to rust or affect its accuracy. Second, choose a place away from light. Long-term exposure to light may have adverse effects on some parts of the thermometer, such as aging of plastic parts.

Water Meters vs Flow Meters

While all water meters are flow meters, not all flow meters are water meters. The quick and dirty difference is that a water meter measures the volume of water as it passes through the meter and a flow meter measures the speed at which the water passes through the meter.
